Is Tallaght a good pickup for the Wicklow Mountains?
It is the best Dublin pickup for Wicklow. The N81 runs south from Tallaght directly into the mountains. You skip city traffic entirely and are in the hills within 30 minutes.
How do I reach Glendalough from Tallaght?
Take the N81 south through Blessington, then follow signs for Glendalough via the R756. The drive is about 50 minutes through beautiful scenery. Alternatively, the M50 and M11 give a faster motorway route.
What is the Sally Gap?
The Sally Gap is a mountain pass in the Wicklow Mountains. The road (R115) runs through blanket bog and past mountain lakes. It is one of the most dramatic drives near Dublin, and on a clear day the views stretch to the coast.
